With plans underway for further expansion into Victoria, including additional offices set to open on Port Philip Bay in the near future, Melbourne’s Sundance Marine is gearing up for a golden future.

If you live in the southern states and are considering buying your first boat, or selling your last, you may have heard other boat owners talk about Sundance Marine.

With a 40-year history in the Victorian marine industry, Sundance Marine started life as a one-man-band operation back in the ’70s until current owners, David and John Beck, took the helm nearly 15 years ago. The team at Sundance Marine have carved a niche and name for themselves in the industry, in both brokerage and new-boat sales of premium boat brands including Beneteau (yacht and power), Wauquiez Boats, and Monte Carlo Yachts.

Famous for their fresh and fun, yet professional, passionate and hardworking approach to business, the Becks have seen a great deal of change in the marine industry during their tenure. Yet despite this they have seen incredible growth even during those challenging economic times.

David and John have brought together a great team of sales, marketing and service professionals, who are passionate about the brands they represent. The team is dedicated to ensuring each boat and its owner are a perfect match, as well as building relationships with customers that last throughout the life of their boating enjoyment.

This strong service ethic led to the appointment of a service manager five years ago, offering a customised support service for Beneteau owners in Victoria. At the time that was a huge step for a company of its size.

In 2010, Sundance Marine expanded into the Tasmanian market opening an office on the Bellerive waterfront opposite Bellerive Yacht Club in order to better service their customers from Australia’s southernmost state and nearby Hobart.

Working closely with the talented and skilled marine professionals based at both the Sandringham Yacht Club Marina in Melbourne and Bellerive in Hobart, a Sundance ‘collaborative collective’ has grown. This close relationship with electricians, sail makers, riggers, detailers and delivery crews has led to Sundance Marine being considered one of Australia’s leading service and support dealerships. It’s brokerage network has become one of the busiest in the country and as keen sailors and boatmen the sales team are extremely knowledgeable with genuine enthusiasm for the industry.

Offering a service that is unrivalled, this brokerage doesn’t stock just any boat — they are selective about the boats
they represent, which range from Beneteaus, Jeanneaus, Archambaults, and more. They also believe there is a boat to match every sailor, their crew and family — so if they don’t have it in stock, they will source one for you.

Whether purchasing used or brand- new the Sundance experience doesn’t stop there. The service
and benefits continue with the aftersales and support offered, including a full-day comprehensive handover ensuring owners are comfortable with their new boat and it’s equipment, through to maintenance, servicing and managing custom modifications when required. No request is too big or too small for the Sundance team, which is why they are renowned for their professional approach.

David and John believe good business is also about fostering a community of likeminded owners who are eager to interact with the brand and the dealership, with many of them becoming close friends and part of the Sundance family.

To nurture this belief, the team provide various opportunities for Beneteau owners to come together and share experiences, socialise and build a network of friends they may see cruising on Port Phillip Bay or competing against one another in IRC challenges. One such eagerly anticipated event is the Victorian Beneteau Cup Regatta, held on Saturday March 9. The annual event and its celebratory après-sail festivities attract participation from more than 300 keen sailors and crew.

Consistently demonstrating a strong customer service ethic and professional approach has led to international boatyards like Wauquiez Boats and Monte Carlo Yachts appointing Sundance Marine as the official local dealership to represent their brands.

Wauquiez Boats is a renowned French builder, with a shipyard in the north of France. Its range is 100 per cent bespoke and the popular range of Pilot Saloon and Centurion models combine modern technology with traditional boatbuilding style.

Part of the Beneteau Group, Monte Carlo Yachts offers a range of award-winning luxury motoryachts from 20m in length and luxuriously designed by the celebrated Italian duo of Nuvolari & Lenard. Sundance Marine has already sold its first MCY65, with its Australian owner taking delivery in the Adriatic in May 2013.
